Deputy Commissioner Expresses Great Concern For Road Safety

Directs to convene special monthly meeting for planning and suggestions to prevent accidents in the district

Deputy Commissioner Apneet Riyait today expressed great concern over the road safety while presiding her maiden monthly meeting with different departments of the district at Bachat Bhawan, here. She said that administration needs to pay special attention to prevent untimely deaths in road accidents.She said that Road Safety Committee would meet at least once in a month to discuss suggestions for the prevention of the accidents, to demarcate accident prone-areas, to improve road safety work and identify sensitive road sites etc. This committee would include DSP (Traffic) as nodal officer, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development), all SDMs, all Executive Officers of urban and rural local bodies, all District Education Officers, RTA or his representative, representative of National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), XEN PWD or his representative and two members of the Civil society as members. She gave strict instructions that all the office bearers of the road safety committee should come with complete preparation of plans and suggestions besides agenda in the next meeting.To free cities from waste and garbage, she strongly warned all the executive officers of the district and directed them to bring a complete plan of solid waste management in the next meeting so that further steps could be made towards the goal of Tandarust Punjab mission.

Riyait said that this is the complete responsibility of the concerned Executive Officer to remove the waste from the city or to dump it at the appropriate place and laxity in this regard will not be tolerated at all. During the meeting with the representatives of Municipal Councils, she also asked them to sensitize people about the sanitation arrangements. She said that the arrangements will be ensured for water logging in the district and it should be monitored regularly along with cleaning of sewerage pipes and drains.She directed the heads of all departments to clear the pending projects of the year 2014, 2015 and 2016 and submit the nil report during the next meeting. Fixing the responsibility of the heads of departments, she said that lackadaisical approach would not be tolerated.Deputy Commissioner Apneet Riyait said that awareness about the ill-effects of the use of plastic in the district is a good thing for the environment, but the need of the hour is to impose a fine on violators. According to the Act, there is a provision to impose Rs.3,000 to Rs.20,000 as a fine and prison up to three months.She instructed the officers of the District Development and Panchayat Departments to immediately remove illegal encroachments on government/ Panchayat lands. While reviewing the work on sanitation of the roads and ponds in the villages, she asked the officers of the rural development and Panchayat Department and the District Mandi Officer to submit the utilization certificates of the completion of various development works.

During the marathon meeting, which lasted for nearly four hours, Deputy Commissioner has reviewed the development works with the funds of MPLAD and others and asked the concerned authorities to complete the work as early as possible. On the details of monthly working from the officials of revenue department, she asked them to expedite the recovery process.Health department officials have been asked to conduct checking campaign against those who sell adulterated food products. She asked the officers of the Social Security department that any kind of laxity in pension cases will not be tolerated and asked them to give special priority to old age, widows and disabled person's pension cases. She directed the officials of the Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) to control all types of Noise Pollution in the city. She said that all the pending complaints received from different commissions should be resolved immediately.Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Mr. Gurmeet Singh Sidhu, Assistant Commissioner (Grievances) Mr. Navdeep Kumar, SDM Mansa Mr. Abhijit Kaplish, SDM Sardulgarh Mr. Latif Ahmed and other officials and employees from different departments were present in the meeting.

Sardulgarh Sewa Kendra staff warned for disruption of work

Deputy Commissioner Apneet Riyait has warned the officials and employees of the sewa kendra, Sardulgarh, who stop work in the center few days ago to collect the salary from Mansa. She directed them not to indulge in such activities in future as this would not be tolerated.
