Div Com reviews developmental scenario of Gurez

Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan today chaired a meeting to review the status of various development projects and other issues related to the Gurez Valley.Threadbare discussions were held regarding the status of healthcare facilities, enhancement electricity supply to Gurez valley and adjacent areas, progress on road connectivity, education facility, teaching staff, creation of tourism development authority for Gurez, fire and emergency services, development of helipads, mobile connectivity, hot mix plant, construction of Bandipora-Gurez tunnel, construction of community bunkers and shifting of landslide-prone villages to the safer places. To address road connectivity issues especially related to Gurez-Tulail road and Bandipora-Dawar-Chackwali road, Divisional Commissioner directed BEACON authorities to expedite the work on double shift basis. On the electricity front, Chief Engineer, PDD informed that steps have already been initiated to enhance the electricity supply hours to Gurez Valley.

To augment the health care facilities in Gurez Valley, Div Com directed Health Department to ensure that specialist doctors and paramedics are posted immediately at health centres are suffering due to the dearth of staff. Khan also directed DC Bandipora to immediately identify those villages of Gurez which are prone to landslides so that they will be shifted to safer places.Regarding other issues, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir asked DC Bandipora to hold fortnightly meetings to review progress on all relevant aspects as far as Gurez Valley is concerned and submit periodical reports to the office of the Divisional Commissioner for necessary action.Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Dr Shahid Chowdhary, DG Health Services, Director Fire and Emergency Services, Director Education, Chief Engineer BEACON, GM BSNL, GM NHPC, Deputy Director Tourism, Superintending Engineers of PDD, R&B, Assistant Commissioner and other concerned officers were present in the meeting.
