VB nabs Assistant Engineer, Panchayat Secretary red handed for taking bribe

State Vigilance Bureau today nabbed an Assistant Engineer (AE) of Panchayti Raj block Dirba and Panchayat Secretary of Sular, Sangrur red handed for accepting bribe of Rs. 50,000/-.Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of Vigilance Bureau Punjab said Shiv Kumar, AE posted at block Dirba and Dhana Singh Panchyat Secretary of Sular in district Sangrur were caught red handed on the complaint of Sukhdev Singh of village Sular in district Sangrur.Giving details he said the complainant has approached the VB and alleged that the AE Shiv Kumar and Panchayat Secretary Dhana Singh were demanding bribe of Rs. 1.04 lakh to issue the usage certificate (UC) regarding development grant issued to the gram panchayat. After verifying his complaint the VB team laid a trap and the accused were caught red handed with Rs. 50,000 of first installment and tainted money was recovered from them in the presence of two official witnesses. He informed that a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against both the accused at VB police Patiala and further investigation was under progress.
