Mission Tandarust Punjab: Garbage Dumping Ground In Village Adampura Converted Into Green Park

Punjab government's project Mission Tandarust Punjab not only has extensive sweeping and cleaning activities going on at the cities and villages, but also beautification and promoting green cover of the rural belt. Continuing this mission, the garbage dumping site at village Adampura has been converted into a lush green and beautiful park.Appreciating the efforts Deputy Commissioner Bathinda Mr Praneet said that district Bathinda has taken lead by turning eye sore points in villages into green belts that are centers for recreation for villagers. Earlier, village Bhokhra had built six parks and now village Adampura has joined the league with a beautiful park. These villages have thrown challenge to others like them to follow the trend and set up such lungs of fresh air in villages.Block Development and Panchayat Officer Bhagta Mr Dharampal Sharma said that the place where park stands now, earlier had heaps of garbage.Keeping this in view the area was cleaned under MNREGA wherein not only the village land was cleared off the garbage albeit it also generated employment for villagers under this scheme. Using the rural funds allocated, the park was developed which has become center of attraction for the young, old and children of the village.Buoyed by the success of Adampura park, the BDPO has now started converting garbage dumping sites of villages Salabatpura, Kangar and Siriewala into parks.  30 percent work on village Salabtpura park has been completed where construction of boundary wall is going on. Similarly, land leveling for building parks at villages Kangar and Siriewala is being done.
