Day 2 : Several deputations meet Advisor Khurshid Ahmed Ganai at Jammu

Visits RS Pura, take stock of irrigation facilities

Several deputations and individuals from all walks of life called on Advisor to Governor, Khurshid Ahmed Ganai and brought   the issues of their respective areas into his notice on the second day of his weekly public hearing, here today.The visiting delegations including  Erstwhile Doda Migrant Committee, Jammu West Assembly Movement, Confederation of Indian Industry, Chamber of Commerce &Industries, J&K College Contractual Lecture Association, J&K  Handicapped Welfare Association, J&K College Teachers Association, Prominent citizens and social workers for Development of Devsthan Purmandal, Shopkeeper Association and Resident welfare Committee R.S Pura, Peer Panchal People welfare forum, J&K horticulture officer welfare association, PWD(R&B) casual labours union, All India Confederation of SC,ST,OBC organization, All J&K OBC Mahasaba, Association of seasonal EVS, J&K amateur athletic association, Bishnah Vikas Manch,, Milk Federation Employee (Retd.),  J&K Promotee Agriculture officers Association among others projected their demands  and sought early redress.

The deputation of Jammu west assembly movement projected demand for the construction of flyovers at Rehari Chungi to Jewel chowk to ease traffic congestion in the area. The further sought installation of LED lights on the main roads of city, augmentation of Chenab water supply, allotment of land to the people residing in border areas and many others.Another delegation of Confederation of Indian Industry demanded reduction of GST rate on Almond Kernel, exemption of adventure and leisure sports items from GST and  up gradation of roads at Bhalwal industrial area.Similarly, the deputation of Chamber of Commerce and Industries highlighted various issues of fruit market Narwal. They demanded establishment of mega market with food processing  park, remodeling of shops design in the market complex, provision of canteen, development of phase-2 of the market.

The deputation of erstwhile Doda Migrant Committee demanded registration and regularization of left out families and all necessary facilities including ration.J&K handicapped welfare association projected sought redress of their pending grievances.

The J&K college teacher association demanded enhancement of age of superannuation of teachers from 60 to 62 years, creation of post of professors in colleges, incentives for faculty possessing Phd, M.Phil  degrees etc.Another delegation of prominent citizens and social workers for development of Devsthan Purmandal demanded construction of check dams at Devika and creating of all basic amenities at these religious places.A delegation of shopkeeper association and resident welfare committee R.S Pura demanded construction of 33 /11 KVA ,10 MVA receiving station at R.S Pura.Peer Panchal people welfare forum projected several issues of Rajouri and Poonch districts including establishment of degree college at Manjakote, hill development council status to Peer Panchal, establishment of ADC office at Manjakote, installation of water hand pumps in water stressed areas.Deputation of Ramkote village of Kathua demanded compensation for their land acquired  by the R&B department.Another deputation from village Moungri of Udhampur district  demanded  construction of roads from Kour Ladda to Ramindh Top, Gouri Mitti to Tibba Dhar and etc.A deputation of J&K Amateur Athletic association demanded laying of synthetic track for athletes to train them for different events to be held at State, National and International levels.Responding to the demands, the Advisor passed instructions to the officers to examine all the issues and take necessary action. He asked the departments to ensure  that benefits of various development and welfare schemes reach to the grass roots level. 

He emphasized on regular monitoring of the development works, maintaining close coordination and synergy among various departments and general public so that genuine demands of the people can be addressed in a stipulated time frame.Later, the Advisor along with Chief Engineers Irrigation, Flood Control, Public Works (R&B), Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Director Agriculture, Director Horticulture and senior officers of concerned departments visited Maralian and Baspur in R S Pura to review irrigation facilities there.On the occasion, the people of the area put-forth their grievances and issues related to irrigation water scarcity, even as they sought compensation of crops damaged due to cross border firing,  timely desilting  of irrigation canal, check on illegal discharge of distributaries, plantation drives along the canals and its proper fencing to save the plants from stray animals.Giving patient hearing to their demands and issues, the Advisor said that all their genuine issues would be looked into and redressed at the earliest.He asked the officers to ensure that the farmers get proper water supply and other facilities. He asked the officers to adopt an innovative and pragmatic approach towards meeting the irrigational requirements.
