Medha Prothasan Yojana to be launched for providing coaching facility to students : Jai Ram Thakur

The State Government was contemplating to introduce one chapter on ill-effects of drug abuse and moral education in the school curriculum to inculcate moral values in the school children. This was stated by the Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur while addressing the “Medhavi Chhatr Samman Samaroh” organised by Amar Ujala daily newspaper here today.Jai Ram Thakur said that it was unfortunate that some of youth have fallen prey to the drug abuse and urged the parents, teachers and students to join hands to eradicate this social vice only then a healthy society can be built.Chief Minister said that the Amar Ujala Group was rendering a yeomen service to the society by honouring the meritorious students as this would motivate the other students to excel in studies. The State Government has also launched several schemes for providing quality education to the students of the State. He said that State Government was launching  'Medha Prothasan Yojana' in the State for providing coaching facilities to the eligible students preparing for competitive examinations as most of the children lack  proper guidance due to non-availability of resources. He said that a provision of Rs. 5 crore has been made for this scheme in the current year’s budget.

Jai Ram Thakur said that it was due to the hard work and devotion of the award winning students that this function was being held here. He said that newspapers not only provide us news about the happenings around us but they also play a vital role in enlightening the society thereby helping in national re-building. He said that during all these years Amar Ujala has created a special place in the hearts of the readers of the State. He said that it was matter of great satisfaction that the girls were excelling in almost every field. He said that in this function also girls have outnumbered the boys.Chief Minister said that one should set a target and start working hard to achieve their aim. He also congratulated the parents on the occasion and said that it was due to their sacrifice and dedication that their children have achieved this award. He said that the students must not forget the efforts and sacrifice of the parents and teachers whatever they achieve in life.He gave away medals and citation to the meritorious students on the occasion and wished them a very bright and happy future.

Editor, Amar Ujala Uday Kumar while detailing the highlights of the event said that Amar Ujala was honouring 156 meretricious students of the State. He said that the event was an effort to honour the talent of the State in a befitting manner. He said the press should give space to the developmental reporting and positive news so that the others can be motivated to perform better.  He said that besides this the Group has also launched Atul Maheshwari Chhatrvriti Yojana for providing assistance to the meritorious students from poor families.Resident Editor of Amar Ujala Rakesh Bhatt proposed vote of thanks.Food and Civil Supplies Minister Kishan Kapoor, Education Minister Suresh Bhardwaj, Health Minister Vipin Singh Parmar, Industries Minister Bikram Singh, Former Governor Ashwani Kumar, MLAs Rakesh Jamwal and Hira Lal, Mayor Kusum Sadrate, Additional Chief Secretary-cum-Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Dr. Shrikant Baldi, Principal Secretary Technical Education J.C.
