Mission Tandrust Punjab : Eight Lakh Tree Saplings Planted In Ludhiana District

Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Shena Aggarwal has informed that under the Mission Tandrust Punjab started by the state government, more than eight lakh tree saplings have been planted in the district and many more would be planted in the coming days. She said that these tree saplings have been planted in order to enhance green cover in the city.While chairing a weekly review meeting of Mission Tandrust Punjab in her office, here today, Shena Aggarwal urged all the government departments to ensure that the Mission Tandrust Punjab is successful. She said that besides planting new tree saplings, immediate steps should be taken to ensure that these tree saplings are maintained properly and eventually become a fully grown tree.She stated that for promoting sports amongst the youth, the Punjab Sports Department is soon starting a district-level league of two sports disciplines, in which a large number of youth would participate. 

District Sports Officer Ravinder Singh informed that besides, the sports league, the participants would also be taught yoga by experts.ADC (D) told all those present in the meeting that Mission Tandrust Punjab is a comprehensive mission to preserve and improve the quality of air, water, and food in the state, thereby ensuring a good living environment for the citizens of Punjab.She stated that all 12 government departments must work collectively round the clock to achieve the goals of Mission Tandrust Punjab by running mass awareness drives among the people in the state and making Punjab healthiest state in the country.She directed the officials from Agriculture, PWD, Cooperative, PPCB, Public Health, Irrigation, Horticulture, Health and other departments to intensify the activities of their departments and organise maximum number of awareness camps in their respective areas of the Ludhiana district.
