National Conference Spokesperson Junaid Azim Mattu in a statement issued from Srinagar has said that PDP was part of an elaborate plan to dilute the anti-BJP votes in Jammu region to help Narendera Modi. This was being done under an understanding between the PDP and the BJP where PDP has extended tactical support to BJP in J&K in lieu of promises to be installed in the government here. These tactical decisions have been taken in meetings between PDP leaders and Modi's close associates in New Delhi. Such antics are bound to fail as PDP has no space in the future of the State.According to a statement issued by Junaid said that while PDP has never believed in safeguarding the aspirations, sentiments and the regional character of Jammu and Kashmir, this new act of betrayal with the people of Jammu and Kashmir is a new low in PDP's brief history. While Mufti Mohammad Sayeed might be willing to do Modi's work in J&K even if that meant supporting his "commitment to abrogate Article 370", the people of this State will not allow Modi to infiltrate into J&K through the Trojan Horse of PDP.

Junaid said that there was an obvious pattern to PDP's candidate fielding and selection in Jammu in such areas so as to pide local votes that would be polled against the BJP. At a time when secular forces in the entire country are united to defeat the communal march of the Modi-led BJP, it is tragic that Modi has found such a dedicate brigade of accomplices in J&K - a State that has been a beacon of amity, communal harmony and co-existence for centuries.Stating that PDP's designs to help BJP candidates in Jammu will be met with complete and total failure, Junaid Mattu said that National Conference was buoyed by the voter turnout in the first phase of elections in the State and was confident of a thumping victory for the NC-Congress Coalition in all six parliamentary seats in J&K. We have outperformed the PDP-BJP combine by reaching out to the people, as seen in the enthusiasm with which people have been participating in our public meetings across the three regions of the State and we will continue to work with the masses to safeguard the identity of J&K.
