Training Programme On Punjab Energy Conservation Building Code (ECBC) Held

Three-day capacity building training program on Punjab Energy Conservation Building Code (ECBC) was organised at Hotel Keys Select, Ludhiana. Punjab Energy Conservation Building Code (Punjab ECBC) has been notified by the Department of New & Renewable Energy, Government of Punjab which is now mandatory in the building, building complexes having connected load of 100 kW or greater or a contract demand of 120 kVA or greater or having conditional area of 500 m2 or more.For the effective Implementation of Punjab ECBC, Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA) with the support of Bureau of Energy Efficiency and UNDP as per UNDP-GEF-BEE Project has initiated the Capacity Building Training Program which is being organized through GMK Infra Solutions LLP and GreenTree Building Energy Pvt. Ltd.at Ludhiana in the State of Punjab for Architects, Engineers, Consultants, Builders, Developers, Urban Local Bodies, Deptt. of Architecture & Town Planning, Improvement Trust, Development Authorities and other stakeholders.Ms Shena Aggarwal, ADC (D), Ludhiana was Chief Guest for the closing ceremony of the workshop and distributed the certificates to the participants. She lauded the efforts of PEDA in various initiatives related to energy conservation.

Anupam Nanda, District Manager, Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA), Ludhiana said that PEDA is holding awareness campaigns and intensive training programmes to sensitise the stakeholders on the ECBC Code and its implementation. After a series of one-day awareness programs and 2-day intensive training programmes, PEDA has initiated a series of 3-day training programmes which are being organised all over the state and are a step forward in training various stakeholders on the implementation modalities and energy simulation using software.Ar. Sanjay K Goel, Chairman - Director, Ludhiana Smart City Limited who is also the Chairman of IIA-Chandigarh Punjab Chapter shared his views on major components of energy conservation in a building and what approach we can take to implement the parameters in a building. He also shared that the building should be designed in a manner, to minimise the use of air conditioning units like they were designed in the earlier years when there were no provision for AC units.Mr Karan Kandhari, Chief Executive Officer, GMK Infra Solutions LLP introduced the participants to the objectives of the Workshop. He further elaborated on the software simulation and provided free software to the participants along with Punjab ECBC Code Book.He also explained the participants to the net-metering scheme of PEDA using Roof Top Solar, how to apply and its advantages. ECBC Master Trainers Ar. Anurag Bajpai and Er. Kumar Biplab from different parts of country, along with Ms Meenakshi Kandhari, Managing Director, GMK Infra Solutions LLP, imparted training to the participants on various aspects of Punjab ECBC with major focus on use of software and implementation tools. After the successful training the Participants were given Certificates.
