DDC Shopian reviews implementation of DDB decisions

District Development Commissioner (DDC) Shopian Owais Ahmed today convened a meeting to review the progress and implementation of District Development Board decisions.Among others, the meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Parvaiz Sajad Ganie, Chief Planning Officer, Ghulam Jeelani, Executive Engineers from, R&B, PHE, I&FC, PDD, and other concerned District/Sectoral officers of the district were present in the meeting.On the occasion, the DDC stressed upon concerned officers to execute the ongoing works within stipulated timeframe without any delay. He asked for creating durable and tangible assets of public utility for sustainable development.On the occasion, Chief Planning Officer briefed the chair through PowerPoint presentation.DDC said that major projects which have identified should be completed on the top priority in the district including Mega Fruit Mandi Aglar Shopian, District Hospital, Polytechnic College, Mini Secretariat Complex, Trenz-Sheikhpora Bridge, Reshnagri Bridge, Bijbehara-Shopian Road, Aglar-Shopian Road, and Augmentation of Shopian Town.

He also reviewed the initiatives taken for improving skill development and capacity building of the beneficiaries under various flagship schemes and programmes. The DDC reviewed the existing schemes under Public Health, Irrigation, Flood Control, Mughal Road, Mechanical Irrigation, Power Development Department and STD sectors and stressed the officers to organize training/awareness programmes in the rural areas for motivating people living in the far-flung area to take the benefits of various sponsored central and state schemes and programmes.The DDC said a comprehensive plan would be devised involving different departments for skill development under various schemes to create employment avenues for the unemployed youth in an integrated manner.
