The new policy framed by the Punjab Government aimed at the regularisation of the illegal colonies was deliberated upon in a precision like and minute manner and after some modifications the consensus has been reached on the same.A meeting was held here today by the Group of Ministers (GoM) under the leadership of the Housing and Urban Development Minister, Punjab, Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa with the colonizers.The meeting was also saw some MLAs in attendance.Interacting with the mediapersons after the meeting,  Bajwa said that the draft with regard to the regularisation of the new colonies has been through some modifications after deliberations with the other ministers present in the meeting and MLAs and the consensus has been arrived at in this regard. Mr. Bajwa also said that the modified draft would be sent to the Chief Minister this week itself for the approval after which it would be sent to the cabinet for approval.Mr. Bajwa further said that major relief has been given to the people and the colonizers at the time of modifying the policy keeping in view the instructions of the Chief Minister and the promises made in the election manifesto. He also said that efforts have also been made to consider the interests of all the stakeholders while framing new policy.

Adding more, he said that in the upcoming policy special priority has been accorded to implement the suggestions aimed at the development of the colonies as well as securing the interests of the residents of these colonies.In the beginning of the meeting, the officials of GMADA presented a new draft of the regularisation of the illegal colonies. The draft was debated upon by the ministers and the MLAs present as well as the representatives of the property dealers and the colonisers association.  Afterwards , it was decided that those suggestions which have been agreed on consented upon should be made part of the new policy and sent to the Chief Ministers.On the occasion, the property dealers and the colonisers association welcomed the new policy being brought in by the State Government and assured that in future no coloniser would develop a colony in an illegal manner.Among others present in the meeting included Cabinet Ministers Mr. Navjot Singh Sidhu, Mr. Sukhbinder Singh Sarkaria, Mr. Balbir Singh Sidhu, Mr. Bharat Bhushan Ashu, Mr. Sunder Sham Arora, and Mr. Vijay Inder Singla, Advisor to the Chief Minister—Captain Sandeep Sandhu, MLAs Mr. Sushil Rinku and Mr. Kuldeep Vaid, Additional Chief Secretary Housing and Urban Development Mrs. Vini Mahajan, Chief Administrator PUDA/GMADA Mr. Ravi Bhagat, Director Town & Country Planning Mr. TPS Phoolka, Chief Town Planner Punjab Mr. Gurpreet Singh and other departmental officers.
