Ajaib Singh becomes a source of inspiration in the field of fishery by renouncing traditional practices

Annually prepares more than 1 crore fish seed, established fish hatchery in 16 acres

Ajaib Singh, who has been made a unique identity in the field of fish farming through his dedication, hard work and patience since last 25 years, by relieving traditional practices and adopting fishery and also emerged as a light of inspiration for others showing path of success by encouraging discouraged youth to live happily.Ajaib Singh son of Mahil Singh resident of village Sundran (Dera Bassi) has started fish farming 25 years before and now he has prepared fish hatchery in 16acre. While disclosing the details about his business he said that he is producing more than 01 crore seed annually. The selling price of fish seed was Rs 100 per 1000 seeds. Besides this he has also prepared a fish farm in 2.5 acre which produces 67 ton fish per year. He said that he is earning Rs.1,10,000 per acre per year from a 2.5 acre fish farm.Fish hatchery farm not only fulfills the demand of SAS Nagar district but also fish farmers from other districts prefers fish seed from his farm. Ajaib Singh not only has reached top of his business but also loves Punjab from his soul. 

He is concerned with the declining water level in Punjab, as such, he also installed rain water harvesting system in his fish farm ad hatchery and ensures judicious use of water. He says that department of fishery, Punjab Govt. also played important role for his success. Time to time guidance form Senior Fishery officers like jatinder Singh Dhillon has also given a guidance line to him.Ajaib Singh says ups and downs are the parts of life but with dedication and hard work and patience, a person is sure to success. Another thing he mentions is desire of learning. He says that no one is perfect as such; person should be always ready to learn.Ajaib Singh says that he has to made Punjab as a leading state in the fish hatchery, as such, farmers of Punjab are needed to adopt allied occupations. Besides this he also says that it is the demand of hour to adopt crop diversification and allied occupations. He said that farmers are refraining themselves from adopting allied occupations due to lack of marketing. He said that if producer didn't compromise with quality then marketing was not a problem at. Buyers themselve approach the producers for quality products.
