Mission Tandarust Punjab: Environment Minister gauge the situation

Punjab Environment Minister Om Prakash Soni reviewed the ongoing activities under the mission Tandarust Punjab in a meeting which was held at Punjab Bhawan here. This program aimed at providing clean potable water and adulteration free food items to the people of Punjab. Mr. Roshan Sunkaria, Principal Secretary, Environment, Mr. Kahan Singh Pannu Chairman of Punjab Pollution control Board and other senior officials from different departments were also present on this occasion.During the meeting Mission Director, Tandarust Punjab , Mr. Pannu said that the initial results of the campaign, which started with the objective to eliminate all types of pollution and adulteration in the state, are very good. He said that Under this mission Health, Water Supply and Sanitation, Local Bodies, Transport, Environment, Agriculture, Horticulture, Co-operation. Forest, Sports, PWD, Water Resources, Rural Development and Panchayat Departments complete their targets in a time bound manner.

Mr. Pannu said that the checking process of food items and awareness campaign against unethical ripening of fruits were being undertaken. Apart from this, farmers are also being educated to reduce the inadequate use of fertilizers because this affects the quality of the crops and also the farmer's economy. On this occasion, they also presented performance report of the work done by all the departments under this mission to the Environment Minister.While addressing the meeting, Environment Minister Mr. Soni said that as per the reports received so far this campaign creates awareness among people about environment and non adulterated food items.Mr. Soni directed the officers to speed up the process of curb the mennce of stubble burning and to expedite the process of providing certain types of machines to resolve this problem permanently. Under this scheme, farmers will get 50 percent subsidy for this machine, while the cooperative societies would get 80 percent subsidy on the same.
