Continuing its drive against vector-borne diseases in the city under Mission Tandarust Punjab, four anti-larva teams undertook the checking in district administrative and police complexes, buildings of District Education Officers (DEOs) (primary and elementary) and surroundings of Shaheed Babu Labh Singh Civil Hospital on Friday.The teams led Mr. Sanjeev Kumar, Mr. Raj Kumar, Mr. Gurpal Singh and Sukhjinder Singh on the directions of Civil Surgeon Dr. Jaspreet Kaur Sekhon, Dr. Satish Kumar and incharge of anti-larva cell Mr. Sukjinder Singh detected the larva in desert coolers of DEO's offices.They acted swiftly and immediately drained the water from the coolers to ensure that it does not spread further. The spray was also carried out there. Further, they checked the houses in Garha and Urban Estate Phase-1.The health staff also made the people aware of the fact that these places are breeding ground for the mosquitoes to spread diseases like dengue, malaria, and others. They were told to keep cover all water storage containers, besides old tyres, broken pots, crockery should be removed immediately.An official spokesperson said that this drive is part of the ‘Tandarust Punjab’ mission to check the spread of vector-borne diseases well in advance.He said that the health department is firmly dedicated to ensuring good health of the residents.
