Vigilance nabs AFSO for taking bribe Rs. 20,000/-

State Vigilance Bureau, today nabbed an Assistant Food & Supplies Officer (AFSO) posted at Sanour in district Patiala red handed for accepting bribe of Rs. 20,000.Disclosing this here today a spokesman of Vigilance Bureau Punjab said AFSO Jeevan Kumar was caught red handed on the complaint of Jagwinder Singh of village Bhanri in Patiala district.Giving details, he said the complainant has approached the VB and alleged that the above named AFSO was demanding bribe of Rs. 25,000 for issuing him a license to open new ration depot in his village and the deal was struck at Rs. 20,000/-. After verifying his complaint the VB team laid a trap and the accused was caught red handed and tainted money was recovered from him in the presence of two official witnesses. He informed that a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against both the accused at VB police station Patiala and further investigation was under progress.
