Dengue Larva Detected At 15 Places During Checking Under ‘Tandarust Punjab Mission’

Continuing checking of vulnerable places in the district, under the ongoing ‘Tandarust Punjab Mission’, the anti-larva cell of the Health department and the Municipal Corporation Jalandhar today detected cases of 15 dengue larva in various localities.Four teams of the anti-larva cell led by Gurvinder Sahota, Sanjeev Kumar, Raj Kumar and Gurvinder Bajwa today undertook checking at Sabowal village on 66 feet road, Kanyawali, Model Town and Income Tax Colony. During the inspections done on directions of the Civil Surgeon Dr. Jaspreet Kaur Sekhon, Dr. Satish Kumar and incharge of anti-larva cell Mr. Sukjinder Singh, the team visited 231 houses, inspected 72 waste containers, four tyres and 67 air coolers. The team detected dengue larva at 15 places including three from air coolers in Sabowal, four from air coolers in Kanyawali, one from air cooler in Model Town and seven from air cooler and toilet pot in Income Tax Colony.The team also had detailed interaction with the people during which they apprised them that these places could act as a breeding ground for the mosquitoes to spread diseases like dengue, malaria and others. They said that the drive was aimed at identifying vulnerable places for producing the larva of mosquitoes. They said that the special inspection was a part of the drive under ‘Tandarust Punjab’ mission to ensure that vector borne diseases were checked well in advanced.
