Baramulla Hospital without water Expose cleanliness claims

Government Hospital in Baramulla district of north Kashmir has no drinking water facility.The Hospital has few toilets/washrooms but due to non-availability of water, the patients are forced to go in the open risking their lives as the locals said.While the attendants accompanying the patients have a different say about the matter.A visitor told PTK that “my son is admitted here for the past two days. We have lot of problem due to non-availability of water, even Washrooms are also dirty”.Another visitor said that “the public toilets-lack running water, stink and the floors are always wet and slippery- so poorly maintained that they are impossible to use and poor conditions are causing problem to people, especially women in the hospital”.He added that “women patients and attendants have been the worst sufferers and toilets in the hospitals are supposed to be cleaner and hygienic but it's other way around in the hospital.”Pertinently, the district hospital Baramulla caters to thousands of patients from across the large area of Baramulla district every day, but when it comes to sanitation, there is lot to be desired.The bathrooms in the hospital are overflowing with dirty even hospital is without water. The faucets don't work and toilets smell as is these have not been cleaned for last some months.When contact Chief Medical Officer Baramulla Dr. B.A. Chalku he told Press Trust of Kashmir that “We have 24/7 water faculties in Hospital”.  (PTK)
