Special Initiatives By Transport Department To Ensure Success Of ‘Mission Tandarust Punjab’

The Transport Department, Punjab, is undertaking novel initiatives to ensure success of the ‘Mission Tandarust Punjab’. The department has authorized  599 pollution check centres across the state. These centres check the pollution level of the vehicles under Central Motor Vehicles Rules 115 and issue  certification as per rules with regard to the pollution level being under prescribed standards. This was disclosed here today in a statement by the  Transport Minister, Punjab, Mrs. Aruna Chaudhary.Mrs. Chaudhary also said that apart from this, the enforcement wing of the Transport Department  conducts checks at the regular intervals on the pollution under control certification and the vehicles which do not carry these are issued challans in  accordance with the motor vehicles act/rules.The minister further highlighted that the pollution check centres are also subjected to regular checks and  inspection as per the rules. Divulging more, the minister said that under the Mission Tandarust Punjab the various officials in their respective areas  throughout the state got free pollution check centres established where 3006 pollution under control certificates were issued. Not only this but car  pooling is also being encouraged and popularized among the people as part of a special campaign to put a stop to the pollution in the urban  regions.Giving more details, the Transport Minister said that the department is getting readied a software which would see all the pollution check  centres of the state getting interlinked thus leading to transparency in the issuance of the pollution under control certifications. The minister expressed  confidence that these measures would go a long way in ensuring the success of Mission Tandarust Punjab.
