Incessant rain: DDMA Rajouri establishes Disaster Response Control Room

In view of incessant rain and likelihood of flash floods and landslides, the District Rajouri Disaster Management Authority and District Level Response team today took a review of disaster response arrangements with senior officers of district administration.The meeting finalized establishment of District Disaster Response Control Room here at Police Line Rajouri.Joint control room involving PHE, PDD, Irrigation and Flood Control, PWD, PMGSY, Mechanical wing, FCS & CA Health and Revenue and Police shall be functional round the clock to coordinate quick response in case of any eventuality in any part of the district.The general public can contact administration on telephone numbers 01962-262515, 01962-264493, +91 95965 20120 for assistance.Meanwhile, similar joint control rooms were established at Koteranka, Nowshera, Sunderbani, Kalakote and Thanamandi and contact numbers were shared in public domain for ensuring immediate response in case of any exigency.The administration has put on alert 550 officials including field functionaries of Revenue, RDD and trained volunteers of civil defence in all 13 tehsils for carrying out rescue and relief operations. 

Necessary equipments have been kept in ready mode for carrying out rescue operations, while 12 ambulances at District Headquarter and 2 at each medial block have been kept on standby for pushing in service if required. Quick response teams have been constituted at each block to provide health services. Sufficient stock of ration, including 20237, 2564 1447 and 838 quintals of rice, wheat, atta and sugar respectively, is available in the district.Similarly, 16 JCBs in PMGSY Division Rajouri, 26 in PMGSY Budhal and equal number in PWD Division Nowshera and Rajouri are also kept in a state of readiness for prompt response. Field functionaries of all departments have been sensitized and asked to maintain close contact with public for extending timely assistance.The administration has also advised the public to take adequate safety measures like staying inside home during wind storms and heavy rains. Those living on river banks have been asked to remain   alert.The Deputy Commissioner Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary chaired the meeting and finalised preparations.Also present were    ADDC A S Chib, ADC Sher Singh, SSP Yougal Manhas, ACR A Q Mir, SE PHE and I & FC Rafiq Khan, ExEn PWD Mushtaq Raina, ExEn PHE Nisar Khan, ExEn PMGSY Zubair Ahmad, ExEn I & FC Sunil Koul, DPO Dr Abdul Khabir, CMO Dr Suresh Gupta, AD FCS & CA Javaid Iqbal, AO Mohd Raiyaz and ARTO Neeraj Gupta.
