Finance Minister Punjab Manpreet Singh today met the parents of 8 years old victim of sexual assault at the Bathinda civil hospital. He said that the Bathinda police was working hard on the case and very soon the accused will be arrested.While talking to the media persons he stated that Punjab government was committed to work for safety of women and children. In its meeting of the cabinet conducted recently, the Punjab government has passed law stating that anyone who sexually assaults victims below 12 years of age will be awarded capital punishment. Investigation in such cases has to be completed within 60 days. In next 60 days the court trial in case has to be completed. If the convict appeals in higher court, the same has to be settled within 6 months.He added that in the case of sexual assault of the 8 years old, the Bathinda police have formed three teams that will soon crack the case and arrest the accused. 

He declared all kind of help to the victim and her family and said that the Punjab government was besides the family its hour sorrow and need.Finance Minister Mr Manpreet Singh Badal later visited the cattle pound located opposite Ganpati Enclave on Dabwlai Road wherein 14 cows have died on June 28.  He said that the police were investigating into the case. On prima facie it appears that someone donated a sack full of grams, which was fed to the animals leading to their death.
