CGC Jhanjeri Students find unique technique to refine even sea water citing the shortage of the water

Eureka Forbes adopted the technique and honoured the students

Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Jhanjeri were working on the problem of acute shortage of clean water and has come out with a novel Idea . Eureka Forbes, the leading Multi National Company has adopted the technique citing it wonderful besides this it has  offered all financial & technical support to the students of this team. The students are planning to go in for a new startup for making practical use of this prototype project.

Students has submitted this project under the theme clean water  in Smart India Hackathon 2018” competition  and started working on it with an aim of converting all types of available water including sea water into safe drinking water. Out of a large number of solutions submitted by various colleges of India, 44 teams were selected by a panel of judges from IITs and IISc. 

The finals of this competition were held in the Deptt of Hydrology, IIT Roorkee. For five days, the teams worked in the “Tinkering Lab” of the deptt. upto late night and their progress was judged on the next day morning. Finally, seven teams were selected whose solutions were found to be viable & practical. The solution suggested by the team of CGC Jhanjeri, using solar reflectors and parabolic concentrators has been found capable of converting any type of impure water into pure water.Congratulating the team for making an extremely useful project, Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President CGC said that full financial & moral support is provided to the students for converting their innovative ideas into working projects which are useful for the society. Dr. G.D.Bansal, Director General CGC said that it is a matter of pride for the college to see Jhanjeri students winning laurels in competitions held at All India level.
