The campaign of BJP candidate, for Chandigarh Lok Sabha seat Kirron Kher, culminated yesterday. During the campaigning, her husband Anupam Kher accompanied her to various places.Though there was no campaigning today, Anupam Kher was in Chandigarh only. In the morning, Kher visited his friend, late Jaspal Bhatti’s family in sector 19. After Bhatti’s demise it was first time Kher visited the family and extended condolences to Savita Bhatti. He also met Bhatti’s son Jasraj Bhatti, daughter-in-law Surili Gautam and daughter Rabiya. Anupam was accompanied by the assistant media advisor to Punjab government Vineet Joshi and municipal councilor Saurabh Joshi. Kher also met Bhatti’s mother and asserted the family of help at any time. He reminisced the days spent with Bhatti in the film industry.

From Bhatti’s home, he visited department of Indian Theatre, Panjab Chandigarh where he studied in 1974-75. He had met Kirron here for the first time. He was happy to remember his student life, but raised concern over the condition of department. “I had expected to the department to be advanced, but there is nothing of that kind,” he said.Standing in the Open Theatre of department he said that he started his acting from that very stage. It was on this stage that he participated in plays. He visited cloak room, green room, faculty room and all other places and said that the year spent here was the life changing moment. He used to walk around in sector 15 with friends. In the evening, he visited sector 17 plaza where he caught up with old friends over ice-cream.  He said that the sector 17 has been his favorite shopping spot, though it has changed over the past years.

Tweeting the pictures from his meeting with late Jaspal Bhatti’s family, Anupam Kher expressed mixed emotions. “Meeting Jaspal Bhatti Ji's family made me feel happy & sad both. He was a fine artiste & a great human being.:),” he tweeted. Kher also uploaded the pictures of the Department of India Theatre and tweeted: “Dept. of Indian Theatre,Chandigarh,d place I learnt my 1st acting lessons. Was HORRIFIED to see its present condition.”
