Golden Arrow Division Celebrates International Yoga Day

The fourth “International Yoga Day” also known as “World Yoga Day” was celebrated at Ferozepur Cantt on 21 June 2018 under the aegis of Golden Arrow Division.  This mass Yoga event was attended by more than 3,000 Army personnel, families and children at Capt Sunder Singh Stadium thereby augmenting the national effort to patronize our cultural heritage.  Major General JS Sandhu, General Officer Commanding, Golden Arrow Division emphasised everyone to assimilate & spread awareness about benefits of Yoga to emulate Yoga in personal training routine.The Ferozepur Cantonment Board also organized Yoga events for ex-servicemen, civilians and families at “Iconic Gandhi Garden”. Approx 400 NCC cadets participated in two different events organized by 13 PUNJAB NCC Battalion.On this longest day of the Summer solistice, 18 different Asanas were performed by the participants over one hour duration. Trained Yoga instructors guided the gathering through these yogasanas while explaining their benefits for good health. The gathering appreciated the initiative taken by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi & Government of India in declaring 21 Jun as International Yoga Day & making the world realise the importance of Yoga and the need for strengthening Indian cultural ownership of Yoga. The event re-energised the environment to practice Yoga in our everyday life.
