The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today asked AAP Convener and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal whether he supported Punjab leader of opposition Sukhpal Khaira’s stand supporting Referendum 2020 which called for a breakup of India. In a statement here, former minister Bikram Singh Majithia said if Kejriwal did not support Referendum 2020 which had been propped up by known Pakistan ISI agent Gurpatwant Pannu then he should take immediate action against Sukhpal Khaira for disrespecting the Indian constitution and supporting a move whose sole idea was to break up the country. He also asked the AAP chief to tell whether he believed in the democratic process of election which was prevalent in India and why his party was allowing outside forces to decide the destiny of the country.Mr Majithia said Sukhpal Khaira was also honour bound to tell Punjabis why he as an elected member who was bound by the Indian constitution had supported the Referendum demand. He said all Punjabis and Indians stood for a strong, democratic and progressive India and anyone doing the opposite like Khaira was indulging in anti-national activity.

The former minister said as far as the SAD was concerned, it stood for the unity and integrity of the country and would not allow any political person like Khaira or the AAP party to play with this.Meanwhile the SAD leader made it clear that all Punjabis were united in fighting for justice for the 1984 genocide against the Sikh community as well as punishment for Congressmen who had perpetrated this massacre. He said the issue of referendum and the fight for justice for the 1984 victims could not be clubbed at any cost. “Khaira is doing a great injustice to the Sikh community by talking about Referendum 2020 and justice for 1984 in the same breath. Khaira as an old Congressman whose heart still beats for the Gandhi family is ill equipped to talk about justice for 1984 after recently advocating an AAP- Congress tie up. Our fight to get justice for 1984 will continue but we cannot allow outside forces to thrust any referendum on us, especially that crafted by an ISI agent like Gurpatwant Pannu”, he added.
