Synergize activities to ensure hassle free Shab-e-Qadar, Eid festivities : Sat Sharma

Minister for Housing and Urban Development Department, Sat Sharma today directed the officers to synergize their functioning to provide people with quality civic amenities including sanitation and other related facilities on Shab-e-Qadar and Eid-ul-Fitr.The Minister was speaking at a review meeting convened to discuss the arrangements being put in place for Shab-e-Qadar and ensuing Eid festivities.Minister of State for Housing & Urban Development department Asiea Naqash and Financial Commissioner, Housing and Urban Development Department K B Agarwal were present.Director Urban Local Bodies (ULB), Kashmir Tufail Ahmed Mattoo, Commissioner SMC Riyaz Ahmed Wani, all the Executive Officers of 42 Municipal Councils/Committees of Kashmir Division, Ward Officers of SMC and other senior officers/officials attended the meeting.Sharma directed both ULBK and SMC to launch special cleanliness drives at various shrines and mosques including Central Jamia Masjid Srinagar, Peer Dastgeer Sahib (RA) Khanyar & Sarai Bala, Sheikh Noor-ud-Din Wali (RA) Chrar-e-Sharief, Zain-ud-Din Wali (RA) Aishmuqam, Khanqah-e-Moula Srinagar, Naqashband Sahib, Hazratbal, Makhdoom Sahab, Owaisi Sahib ahead of Shab-e-Qadar and Eid-ul-Fitr.

The adjoining areas lanes, by lanes connecting to these religious places should be properly taken care of with a qualitative sanitation and besides providing other quality civic amenities, he added.He further stressed that all the machinery including hopper vehicles, sweeping machines, robots shall be pressed into service and the religious places will be fumigated with disinfectants, water sprayers and other necessary arrangements to be looked into.Mr. Sharma also directed the concerned departments to set up assistance booths at various shrines and mosques for the convenience of public during the important day of Shab-e-Qadar and Eid-ul-Fitr so that the devotees are well facilitated.While stressing on ensuring functionality of the street lights, Minister said that all the defunct should be made functional with the installation of more lights as required at various points so that public faces no inconvenience during the worship hours.The Minister, Housing & Urban Development and Minister of State, Housing & Urban Development Department also spoke on the occasion and directed for working in coordination for ensuring the smooth conduct of the auspicious days of Shabe Qadar and Eid-Ul-Fitr. He said that the officers of both the departments should ensure hassle free celebrations of these festivities.
