DDC Kupwara Visits Mawar, Qalamabad, Manzpora

Takes stock of ongoing developmental works

District Development Commissioner (DDC), Kupwara Khalid Jahangir, along with Additional Deputy Commissioner Handwara Muzaffer Ahmad, Tehsildar Handwara and Qalamabad, Executive Engineer PHE & PDD and field functionaries of different departments took an extensive tour to take stock of ongoing developmental works at different places of Mawar, Maretgam, Hangah, Manzpora, Qalamabad, Chontipora and Lachh areas of district Kupwara.The DC directed the concerned authorities for timely completion of the ongoing works in the said areas.On the occasion, the DDC inspected the work going on Chotipora Nowgam road at Chountipora, Manzpora and Lachh. He directed the beacon authorities and revenue officials to construct permanent concrete poles on the edge of 66 feet wide road. He further directed the concerned authorities to mobilise their men and machinery and gear up the pace of work to ensure completion of the road within a stipulated time frame.The DC sought cooperation from the locals of the area for hassle-free execution of all Developmental projects.DC Kupwara also inspected various schools in the area. He visited Govt Boys Secondary School Hangah and Maratgam and took stock of overall performance of the school. He interacted with students and teachers and stressed for enhancing female literacy ratio, an indicator of growth in which Kupwara is lagging behind compared to other districts of valley.

A deputation from Batagund and Qalamabad also met DC  and apprised him of illegal extraction going on in Nalla Mawar. The DC directed the already constituted Monitoring Committee to look into the allegations of illegal extractions in Nallahs. He said that order has been issued by district administration strictly prohibited illegal extractions from Nallahs on the guidelines of the honourable High Court.Meanwhile, DDC inspected the work in progress on Primary Health Centre and widening of Qalamabad road for smooth flow of traffic. He directed the R&B authorities to complete the work on PHC by the end of June.The DDC also directed the R&B and revenue officials to prepare assessment for compensation of road. Meanwhile, he also directed the concerned authorities to start work on an overpass near Govt Boys higher secondary school Qalamabad so that it connects the buildings of the Higher secondary and makes passage across road safer and easier for the students and common masses.While interacting with shopkeepers in Qalamabad,  demand for installation of Street lights in Market for smooth movement of commuters during evening hours was raised. The DC directed authorities of PDD to prepare DPR for early resolution of this demand.
