28915 Eligible Get Benefits Of Several Schemes Of Government In Ludhiana

The flagship scheme of Punjab government Mahatma Gandhi Sarbat Vikas Yojna has become a boon for the people who failed to get the benefits of pro-poor schemes of the government as around 62 percent such people have been successfully enrolled for several welfare programs in Ludhiana.Divulging the details, the additional deputy commissioner (ADC) (D) Dr. Shena Aggarwal said that a survey was conducted under this program in Ludhiana and 181475 people were identified out of which 46316 were found eligible for various programs of the state government.Among them, 28915 (62.42 percent) persons have already been started taking benefits of the schemes.She disclosed that among them, 7253 had no facility of clean drinking water and 6236 households were those who had no electricity connection.ADC told that beneficiaries have been enrolled in 24 various schemes of government and remaining 17401 will be given the benefits within in stipulated time. 

Aggarwal also appealed the people to contact the administration if they think eligible as per criteria of the scheme. She said that a three-member committee comprising Guardian of Governance, Panchayat Secretary and social activist of the village.Under the scheme all debt-ridden farmers, families with woman as head of family, the families who have lost their only bread earner, families with members suffering from serious ailments like cancer, homeless families, school dropout children, families with specially able children, distressed old age people, drug addicts, families in problem due to natural disasters, unemployed youth above 18 years, children with malnutrition, sanitary workers, orphan children, transgender, acid attack victims, families living in slums and others were eligible to avail its benefits.
