The repair work of city’s lifeline Jagraon Railway Over Bridge (ROB) has been started by railway which will be completed within next eight months.The Punjab Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu and Member of Parliament (MP) Ravneet Singh Bittu on Wednesday took the stock of repair work and asked the railway officials to complete the work in a time bound manner.Talking to media persons after inspecting the work, the minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu and MP Ravneet Singh Bittu said that dismantling of the closed side will be done within 10 days. They disclosed that the length of bridge which is being repaired is 65 feet and has 10.5 feet width.The Punjab Government has already transferred Rs 24.30 crore to the railway for the repair work; they told and added the railway has already made arrangements of material including large size girders and others.They stated that after the completion of ROB’s repair work, the all approach roads will be constructed by Ludhiana Municipal Corporation. 

MP said that he will inspect the repair work twice in a week to ensure its completion within eight months.He said that he has also asked railway ministry to depute an executive engineer in Ludhiana for speedy work. He also appealed the people who have illegally encroached railway’s land in vicinity of the bridge to shift into government’s flats as soon as to avoid any kind of problem in repair work.He also told that repair work of Gill flyover will be completed in next week and probe panel is yet to submit its detailed report over the reasons led to the collapse of one retaining wall. MP claimed the action will be taken against the guilty.Quizzed over Meghalaya’s situation, Bittu who was part of a four-member delegation sent by Punjab government to Meghalaya capital Shillong after reports of the clash between Sikhs and another community, he said that situation is peaceful and under control.On the occasion, District Congress Chief Gurdev Singh Lapran, District Youth Congress Chief Rajiv Raja and area councillor Rakesh Parashar and railway officials were present.
