Health Minister Brahm Mohindra Dedicates Mission ‘Tandrust Punjab’ To The People On World Environment Day

Reiterates Government’s Commitment To Make Punjab Healthiest State By Providing Clean Water, Air, And Safe Food

Health and Family Welfare Minister Brahm Mohindra on Tuesday dedicated the Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh’s brainchild program ‘Tandrust Punjab’ to the people of the district on World Environment Day and called it need of the hour for achieving the goal of holistic development of Punjab.The minister, who was the chief guest of district-level function to launch the program, said that this comprehensive mission is the result of visionary thinking of Punjab Chief Minister to improve the state’s air, water quality, and safe food by ensuring healthy and congenial environment to the citizens of Punjab.He stated that the mission aimed to make the Punjab healthiest state in the country in which 12 government departments will work collectively round the clock to achieve its goals by running mass awareness drives among the people in the state.Mohindra exhorted the people to join the hands with the government to make this initiative a huge success by actively participating in the program.Meanwhile, the health and family welfare minister revealed that very soon, there will be no shortage of doctors in the state as 306 doctors are going to join the health department.He said that previous SAD-BJP government paid no attention towards the recruitment in the health department and when he took the reins of the department, there were several anomalies in the department but now things have changed as now OPD in the government hospitals has been increased and health services have been improved.

He told that health department has already administrated Measles-Rubella vaccine to 48.55 lakh children under its campaign and the remaining will be covered in stipulated time.He also revealed that installation of three common effluent treatment plants is already underway in Ludhiana which is industrial hub of the state and once operationalized, the problem of water pollution will almost be controlled here.On the stubble burning menace, he said that Punjab government has tied with three companies which will procure the stubble from the farmers and will generate electricity.This will promote the farmers to sell the stubble and earn income, he added.The minister honoured the 110 farmers who shun the stubble burning in the district and also released a booklet on ‘Tandrust Punjab’. He also visited the many stalls put up by various departments.Additional Deputy Commissioner (D) Dr. Shena Aggarwal spoke elaborately about ‘Tandrust Punjab’ in the function. Ludhiana MC joint commissioner Satwant Singh also gave the details about the efforts made by the civic body in making the city clean and green.Three keynote speakers of different fields including Dr. Rajoo Singh Chhinna, Head Gastroenterologist DMC Hospital, Dr. Charanjeet Singh Aulakh, Director of School for Organic Farming in PAU, and Anil Bharti from Swami Vivekananda Trust Ludhiana also shared their views and appreciated the Punjab government for launching ‘Tandrust Punjab’. Before the program, he also planted a sapling in Rakh Bagh.Prominent among others who attended the program included MLA Rakesh Panday, MLA Sanjay Talwar, Press Secretary to CM Vimal Sumbly, Former Minister Malkeet Singh Dakha, Senior Deputy Mayor Sham Sunder Malhotra, Deputy Commissioner Pradeep Kumar Agrawal, District Congress Chief Gurdev Singh Lapran and officials from various departments.
