Exhorts Officials To Sensitize People From Minority Through Awareness Campaign

Manjit Singh Rai, member of the National Commission for Minorities (NCM), on Wednesday convened a meeting with officials of 17 various departments and reviewed various schemes of people from minority section of society in circuit house here.Rai discussed the implementation of a 15-point program of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for people from minority section in Ludhiana and got the status reports from the officials.During the meeting, NCM member asked the police department to keep a close tab on the rumour mongers so that people are not misled through social media. He has directed the officers to adopt zero tolerance towards anti-social elements. After which, the police officials told him that cyber cell has already been operating in the Ludhiana to efficiently tackle such types of the elements on social media.He also asked the police to take action immediately in complaints involving illegal encroachments on the burial grounds. The member also assured the district administration to get the grant for Anganwari centers from union government as soon as possible. 

He said the scholarships awarded to Sikh, Muslim, Christian, Parsi, Jain and other minority section children should be given in time to ensure proper growth of these sections.Rai also directed the officials of the lead bank and agriculture department to pass loan applications of people from the minority section on a priority basis especially the applications of the youngsters who come forward with applications to start their own business.In the last, he exhorted all the officials to sensitize the people of the minority section about the welfare schemes so that maximum people can take benefit of schemes.Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Iqbal Singh Sandhu, MC additional commissioner Sanyam Aggarwal, District Welfare Officer Jasdev Singh, District Program Officer Rupinder Kaur, District Development and Panchayat Officer Harkanwaljeet Singh, Chief Agriculture Officer Dr Baldev Singh, Jagraon Tehsil Welfare Officer Kulwant Singh Sandhu, several CDPOs, officials from education, social security, ITI and officials from Corporation, Ludhiana city, Ludhiana rural and Khanna were also present.
