For empowering the unemployed youth of the district, several training programmes are bring run by Rural Self-Employment Training Institute (RSETI) that are showing good results. Deputy Commissioner Gurneet Tej reviewed various training programmes under RSETI.During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner directed officials from different banks to clear the pending loan cases of beneficiaries sponsored by this institute within a week so that the beneficiaries trained by RSETI can start their own businesses and become self dependent. She appreciated RSETI for training the unemployed youth and making them self dependent. She said that efforts are afoot to ensure that more people are taken in the ambit of RSETI to create employment opportunities.She informed that RSETI was formed in March 2011 and till date, they have organised 118 training programmes in which 2823 people have been trained. 

She informed that out of 2823, a total of 2131 persons have started their own businesses and that is why, RSETI has got “AA” ranking in the year 2015-16 and 2016-17. From January 2017 to March 2018, eight training programmes have been organised in which 226 persons have been trained, whereas in 2017-18, 610 persons were trained in 18 different training programmes.On this occasion, Mr KK Dogra, Director, RSETI, informed that people falling in Below Poverty Line (BPL) category are also trained in the institute so that they can become self dependent. He said that once a person gets training from RSETI, he/she gets loan on priority basis from banks.He stated that soon, the RSETI campus is coming up at 2-acre piece of land in village Rangeelpur near Rupnagar. He said that this building would comprise of classrooms, hostel, mess and office of the director and an amount of Rs 1.41 crore would be spent for this purpose. He informed that the land as well as funds for this purpose have already been allocated. Tenders for the construction of this building have been floated and technical bids have been opened.
