CM's new initiative for smooth traffic during President visit

Keeping in view the current visit of President of India to the State Capital, Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur has taken a new initiative of using tempo travellers for travelling to attend Presidents functions at various places in the town along-with his Cabinet colleagues and officers for ensuring smooth traffic in larger interest of local commuters and tourists visiting the town.In all, eight such vehicles of Himachal Roadways Transport Corporation have been arranged that will be used during the Presidents stay at Shimla. The Chief Minister, Ministers and officers would travel in these vehicles for various functions like At Home, Civic Reception and visit to the Retreat etc.Today, the Chief Minister alongwith Speaker, HP Vidhan Sabha Dr. Rajiv Bindal, Cabinet Ministers, Chief Secretary and other senior officers of the state government travelled in tempo travellers from Secretariat to the Retreat and back.Jai Ram Thakur said that this initiative of the government would help in avoiding inconvenience to the general public as use of fewer vehicles would help in maintaining smooth traffic flow in the town. Moreover, this was also a step towards cost cutting and environment protection.
