Anubrata, Anisur responses under examination: Poll panel

The Election Commission Friday said it is examining the replies received in response to the showcause notices issued to West Bengal Trinamool Congress leader Anubrata Mandal and CPI-M legislator Anisur Rehman."We have received it today (Friday) and we are examining it," chief electoral officer Sunil Gupta told reporters here.Mandal, Trinamool's Birbhum district chief, allegedly used offensive words during a workers' meeting and was served two showcause notices by sub-pisional officer, Katwa in Burdwan district and by SDO Labhpur in Birbhum district.

The poll panel had slapped a formal showcause notice on Mondal April 2.The panel has also issued a formal showcause notice to Communist Party of India-Marxist legislator Rehman who had been served a notice earlier by SDO Rampurhat in the Birbhum district for using unparliamentary language against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
