Cultural programme by JKAACL mesmerizes audience on 2nd day of Moungri mela

On second day of three-day Annual Shiv –Parvati Moungri mela today thousands of visitors and devotes from within and outside the district thronged Moungri Mela and paid their obeisance to Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva.A scintillating cultural programme was presented by the J&K Academy of Art Cultural and Languages, and renowned local artists of the area which were highly appreciated by the people present in the mela.Welcoming the gathering, Dr Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary, Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages said that since last few years JKAACL initiated the activities in the remote and upper reaches of Jammu province focusing the regional festivals so that the local artists can be encouraged.Tehsildar Moungri, Amit Verma while speaking on the occasion appreciated the artists from Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, culture and Languages and said that local artists are being encouraged. He hoped that JKAACL will continue participating in such Melas in future.On the occasion, the department of Youth Services & Sports in collaboration with Education Department Udhampur organized rural sports activities as well.  It was also given out that J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association is also organising a wrestling match at Sar Dabber on 16th May where wrestlers of name and fame from the state and outside are participating.

Number of temporary sweet shops, toy shops and other eatable corners by the locals as well as outside vendors were the main attraction for the general public visiting the Mela site. The District administration has made adequate arrangements of Water, Electricity, Healthcare, Security, transport etc. for the successful conduct of the mela. Awareness stalls were also put up by many departments on the occasion.The parties who performed during the cultural event include Kem Raj and Party (Kud), Pavitri Devi and Party (Dogri folk), Bodh Raj and Party(Geetru) and Kartar Singh and Party ( Bhaakh).Ms Sonam Khajuria, Lecturer in English, Government Degree College, Mahanpur, Kathua conducted the proceedings while Sh. Bishan Dass, Assistant Cultural Officer, JKAACL presented vote of thanks.Among others, Block Development Officer, Moungri Suman Katal, Zonal Physical Education Officer, Pawan Sharma , officials of different departments and local mela committee members   besides  large number of local residents of the area, students, youth and eminent citizens witnessed and participated in this historical Mela.
