Reasi : Cultural prog, rally organized to celebrate Red Cross Day

District Administration Reasi today organized a rally and cultural programme to mark the Red Cross Day and birth anniversary of the founder of the Red Cross Organization (RCO), Jean Henry Dunant.Deputy Commissioner Prasanna Ramaswami G was the chief guest. He urged upon the civil society to follow road safety rules and contribute their bit towards Red Cross movement by providing succor to poor people, patients and accident victims. He appreciated the role of the DRCS and its volunteers especially during the mishaps in this calamity prone area.While giving details of Red Cross activities, the Assistant Commissioner Revenue educated the participants about the importance, role and achievements of the RCO in helping the people in distress during the time of peace and war.Rakesh Wazir, honorary general secretary Red Cross Society appealed to the people to donate towards the DRCS fund which can be used in the district during the time of crisis or emergency and for providing relief to the persons in distress.
A short documentary on red cross activities in the district was also screened for the participants.The participants also took pledge to work for the suffering mankind and maintaining peace and amity in the district.Meanwhile, a rally was also flagged off by Deputy Commissioner which witnessed massive participation of local volunteers, National Cadet Corp(NCC), teachers, students and women.The rally started from District complex and after passing through main market culminated at Government Higher Secondary School Reasi where a debate competition and cultural programme were also held.Among others, present were SSP, ADC, Tehsildars, district officers, representatives of companies associated with execution of national projects, local people, teachers and students.The participants and officers of government Departments contributed funds towards the DRCS and handed over the same to the chairman of the Society.Red Cross day was also celebrated in schools and other institutions at Mahore, Dharmari, Pouni, Arnas etc.
