Govt. committed for welfare of senior citizens : Jai Ram Thakur

The State Government was committed for the welfare and well being of the senior citizens and several schemes had been launched for their betterment. This was stated by the Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur during a live interaction through video conference on Social Security Scheme from Shimla with MLA of Jubbal-Kotkhai constituency and residents of Tau village today.The Chief Minister said that the State government in its very first cabinet meeting decided to lower the age of the old people for getting old age pension without income criteria from 80 years to 70 years. He said that this decision of the government had benefitted 1.30 lakh old people of the State.Jai Ram Thakur said that this decision was a token of respect to the senior citizens of the State. He said that the government would ensure to launch a special campaign to enroll the eligible old people of the State under the scheme so that they could start getting the social security pension of Rs 1300 per month at the earliest.He congratulated Narinder Bragta for the innovative idea to start the campaign for enrolling the senior citizens to avail social security pension benefits.Shri Bragta said that all the old people eligible under this scheme would be enrolled within 15 days by launching a special campaign. He also thanked the Chief Minister for sparing his time for launching the campaign in his Assembly constituency.He informed the Chief Minister that first formed filled under this campaign was of Rukkmu Devi, a 73 year old woman of Tau village.Secretary Chief Minister Project Monitoring to CM Dr R.N.Batta, Director Public Relations Anupam Kashyap were also present on the occasion among others.
