Gram Swaraj Abhiyan makes headway in Rajouri

The 6th day of Gram Swaraj Abhiyan was marked with a number of programmes and meetings under the campaign Ujjwala Panchayat to educate the beneficiaries of health hazards of using firewood and dung for domestic purposes, health benefits of clean fuel like LPG, practical demonstrations for safe handling of LPG cylinders and on spot registration of left out beneficiaries.The main function was organized at district headquarter by Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs department in collaboration with DD gas agency.Vice Chairman Pahari Advisory Board Kuldeep Raj Gupta, Tasneem Majjid Ganai  and Vinesh Pachnanda nodal officers for implementation of Gram Swaraj Abhiyan, AD FCS & CA Javaid Iqbal and large number of people belonging to BPL category from ST and SC populace besides those from Antodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) category were present on the occasion.

While sharing her observations, Tasneem Majjid Ganai said that the concerned department should undertake more rigorous and intensified outreach campaign with application of innovative methods to cover left out families for achieving cent percent saturation under PMUY so that females and children of these families are saved from health problems arising from use of firewood and dung. She said Gram Swaraj Abhiyan has been launched as special intervention of GOI to get full saturation in eight selected schemes.Earlier, Javaid Iqbal informed the participants about eligibility criteria for free LPG connections and formalities thereof. He said the BPL families from ST and SC populace are eligible for it and shall have to submit copy of aadhar card, ration card and relevant category certificate for free gas connections whereas all families in AAY category are also eligible and have to produce only aadhar and ration card while applying for connection.Similar functions were held across the district, in which 342 free LPG gas connections were distributed whereas 445 Know Your Customer (KYC) forms were collected on spot by all agencies.
