Credibility of Institutions at stake : Deepak Sanan

In his keynote address on the occasion of Civil Services Day organised at HIPA today, Deepak Sanan, Rtd. IAS said credibility of institutions in the country is at stake and posted hope that system will come improved with the challenges surrounding democratic institutions.He pinned hope on use of technology especially IT instruments in governance that will ensure transparency in the system and check option of discretion in delivery mechanism. It will curtail discretion for favouring any one in course of governance.Secretary Administrative Reforms Purnima Chauhan said new challenges are emerging after introduction of RTI act and public service guarantee Act. Aspirations and expectations of society have also risen in wake of changed scenario in the country. The role of State is fastly becoming the role of facilitator in governance, she added.

She said feedback from citizens in policy framing is crucial so that expectations of citizens could be realized. Trust is to be generated in every section of the society to reduce complexities of governance.Director HIPA C.P. Verma in his welcome address delved upon the history of Civil Services in India and its role. He said radical transformation is required to meet aspiration of masses. He appealed the fraternity to make self critical analysis for betterment of civil services.Dr. Sudhir Sharma Associate Prof. Neurology IGMC Shimla gave presentation on causes of stroke, prevention and treatment.Shailender Kaushal IT expert in his presentation said that 39 various services have been integrated online in Chief Minister Dashboard. Sri Niwas Joshi and KR Bharti Retd. IAS also spoke on the occasion. Dr. Lal Singh NGO representative in his presentation showcased his innovations for betterment of rural life.
