The State Government has filled up 262 posts of MBBS Doctors through walk-in-interviews and 200 posts of doctors would be filled through State Public Service Commission so as to meet shortage of doctors in health institutions particularly in rural and far-flung areas of the State. This was stated by the Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur while presiding over inauguration of 'Interventional Radiology Outreach' Programme organized by the Department of Radio-diagnosis IGMC Shimla here today.He said that State Government was committed to fill up all the posts of doctors and para-medical staff on priority so that people of the State do not suffer for want of staff.Shri Jai Ram Thakur said that IGMC was the premier medical institution of the State and Government was committed to further strengthen it with advanced facilities and latest equipments. He said that Rs. 9 crore Digital Subtraction Angiography Machine was being installed in IGMC. State Government would provide remaining amount of Rs 1.50 crore required for this machine. He said that ''C-ARM'' would also be provided in the department soon in order to facilitate patients.
The Chief Minister said that necessary staff would be filled up immediately for making Rs. 23 crore Linear Acculator functional which was lying unused in Tanda Medical College for want of requisite staff. He said that similar machine would be installed in IGMC as soon as the new building was available. He said that government was laying special emphasis on strengthening existing institutions, instead of opening new ones. He said that main focus of the Government was to provide affordable and quality health services to the people of the State. He also urged the doctors to work with missionary zeal and compassion to provide best health care services to the people.Shri Jai Ram Thakur while congratulating the doctors for organizing the Conference expressed hope that deliberations held would go a long way in providing best services to the people.Later, while inspecting the progress of under construction new OPD Building coming up at a cost of Rs 56.20 crore, Shri Jai Ram Thakur directed concerned officers to complete work within stipulated time. He said that adequate space for parking should also be developed in the complex adding that new Super Specialty complex of IGMC was also being constructed at Chamiyana near Shimla.
Education Minister Suresh Bhardwaj while addressing the gathering said that that alumni of the IGMC had brought laurels to the State and were serving in reputed health institutions of the country and abroad.Health Minister Shri Vipin Singh Parmar said that present State Government was laying special emphasis on strengthening health and educational institutions of the State by equipping them with adequate infrastructure and work force. He said that Union Government has sanctioned Rs 1351 crore for AIIMS being constructed at Kothipura in Bilaspur district.Principal IGMC, Dr. Ravi Sharma welcomed the Chief Minister and put forth the demands of the institution.Chairman Radiology Department, IGMC Dr. Sanjeev Sharma welcomed the Chief Minister and detailed various activities to be undertaken in two day long Conference.Chairman Radiology Department PGI Chandigarh Dr. N. Khandelwal also spoke on the occasion.Principal Secretary Health Shri Prabodh Saxena, Mayor, MC Shimla Ms. Kusum Sadret, Principal Dental College Dr. R.P. Luthra, Principal Sister Nivideta Nursing college, Shimla Smt. Usha Mehta, President, HP State Nursing College Teaching Association Smt. Santosh Manta, Heads of various departments of IGMC were also present on the occasion among others.
