Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Mohammad Harun Malik today chaired a District Road Safety Committee (DRSC) meeting to review the overall traffic plan for the district Budgam.Traffic Advisor, Anuj Malhotra,  ADC Budgam, Mohammad Farooq Dar, ARTO Budgam, senior officials from Revenue, Education, R&B, Municipality, Deputy SP Headquarter, Deputy SP Traffic Rural and officials from other line departments were present in the meeting.Emphasizing on the smooth functioning of both public and private transport across the district, DC directed the concerned to take stringent action against the shopkeepers, vendors and others for indulging in road encroachments and creating impediments to smooth plying of vehicles.Preparations for the forthcoming Road Safety Week starting from April-25 were also revived during the meeting.While taking an overall review of the district traffic plan, DC emphasised on introducing a new cab services on pattern of TATA Sumo services on different routes including between Soibugh-Budgam and Chadoora-Charsharief to address the public transport crises in these areas.DC also stressed on concerned to ensure implementation of government approved fare on all routes and asked them to take action against the transporters for failing to comply with the approved fare.DC announced that new bus stands would be constructed in Charshareef and Beerwah to address the traffic jam issues in both towns.Earlier,  ARTO Budgam submitted the action report on traffic management.He informed that installation of hoarding at prominent places besides training programmes on conduct of public service vehicle drivers were held by the department.The meeting was informed that the department has registered hundreds of challans in past year against the traffic violators.
