Chief Justice lays foundation of Katra Court Complex

‘Infrastructure upgradation aimed at facilitating timely deliverance of justice’

Chief Justice (acting) J&K High Court Justice Ramalingam Sudhakar on Sunday lays the foundation. Stone of  a court complex at  Katra.Administrative Judge District Reasi, Justice Sanjeev Kumar, Minister for Law and Justice Abdul Haq Khan were also present on the occasion.The court complex will be constructed by JK Housing Board at the cost of Rs 15.96 crore and will be equipped with latest facilities. It will consist of two court rooms, lawyers’ chambers, court room staff waiting room, residential quarters and parking.  May 2010 has been set the target for completing the construction process.Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Justice said that the aim to build the infrastructure in courts is to facilitate the atmosphere where justice is delivered properly.He said advocates have an important role to play in the justice delivery system and the ultimate goal must be to make justice available to the common people and help judicial system to deliver it at the door steps of people.Chief Justice (acting) impressed upon the construction agency to expedite the pace of work so that the project can be completed as early as possible. 

Justice Ramalingam Sudhakar praised the law minister in showing keen interest in developing the infrastructure in the courts of states besides providing adequate facilities to the lawyers.Speaking on the occasion Law Minister Abdul Haq Khan said the State Govt. is committed to strengthen the infrastructure of Courts across the state besides and in past three years many new court complexes have come up while more are coming up in next few years.He said more courts have been established and steps are being taken to increase the posts of judges to reduce the pendency of cases.The inaugural function was attended by Law Secretary Abdul Majid Bhat, Sanjay Dhar, Registrar General, High Court of J&K, Jawed Ahmed, Pr. Secretary to Chief Justice, DC Reasi Prasana Ramaswamy, Principal District Judge Reasi Sr Gandhi, CJM Reasi Vijay Singh Manhas, sub Judge Katra Sandeep Gandotra, Munsif Katra Parveen Pandah, Bar President,  Advocate KK Dubey,  Bar President Reasi PD Singh, judicial officers,  Lawyers, other senior officers of District Reasi were present on the occasion.
