Emphasizing the importance of Sanskrit language in past and modern times, Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh, today said the government would put in hard efforts to ensure promotion of Sanskrit language.The Deputy CM was addressing a gathering during the Annual Day celebration of Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, Shri Ranbir Campus at Kot Bhalwal.Stressing the need to promote Sanskrit, the Deputy CM said Sanskrit is the key to understanding depth of the knowledge of the founding fathers of our great civilization. He said youth can play an important role in promotion of language and spreading the message of peace and prosperity.Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Choudhary, who was the special guest on the occasion, appreciated the sense of discipline displayed by the students of the campus.Referring to the theme of the documentary screened during the function, the Minister said the girls are outnumbering boys in every filed and the need is to provide them conducive environment to grow and excel to new highs.Vice Chancellor, Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, New Delhi Prof Parameshwar Narayan Shastry, in his address, said that while the languages in India represent the soul of India, Sanskrit represents the Supreme Soul. 

He further said that today’s India is progressing on the twin propellants of power and knowledge.Presenting the annual report of the campus, Principal, Shri Ranbir Campus, Professor Fateh Singh informed the guests and the audience that Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan is the world’s largest and only multi-campus Sanskrit University. The campus in Jammu offers graduation classes in seven departments including Sahitya, Vyakaran, Veda, Jyotish, Dashan, Education and Modern Subjects, and in five departments at Post graduation level. Degrees are also awarded for doctoral levels, he added.Later, the Deputy CM felicitated the students who had excelled in various competitions during the current academic year and in the Youth Festival,Yuva Mahotsava.A documentary on Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, ‘Sutam Lalaya Sutam Palaya’ was also screened on the occasion which has won the Bronze medal. It was produced by the institution and directed by a student of the campus, Vivek Khajuria.Head of the Department of Sahitya Dr. Satish Kumar Kapoor, Dr. Ram Das Sangotra, Dr. Prabhat Kumar Mahapatra, Dr. Deepak Kumar Sharma, Mohan Purohit, Dr. D. Dayanath and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
