DP Reddy directs all DC’s to expedite pendency in debt relief scheme

Collect self declaration form in left out cases, asks officers

In a bid to provide the benefits of debt relief scheme to farmers of the state, additional chief secretary cooperation DP Reddy directed all the deputy commissioners to clear all the pending cases of beneficiaries expeditiously so that required relief amount could be transferred to their accounts.In a video conference with DCs, SDMs and deputy registrars of cooperative societies to review the implementation process of this scheme, he asked them to settle the relief within week in death cases, NRIs and farmers without Aadhar cards. He added that so far 75,748 farmers of 10 districts have been provided debt relief amounting to Rs.329.55 crore in two phases and assured that remaining 40,485 left out farmers of these districts would soon get the relief.He informed that the roll out of the debt relief scheme-2017 was a continuous process and every eligible farmer would be covered under this plan. Reiterating the resolve of the state government to fulfil its commitment of debt relief to the farmers, he added that the scheme has been amended to obtain a self-declaration from the eligible beneficiaries thereby simplified the disbursement procedure.Reddy also reviewed the preparations of state level function to be held in the first week of April at Gurdaspur to distribute debt relief certificates. He informed that around 50,000 eligible beneficiaries of six districts Gurdaspur, Pathankot, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, SBS Nagar and Hoshiarpur would get relief of Rs. 200 crores in this phase. He also sensitized the DCs of these districts and a road-map was given to complete the verification process of eligible farmers on priority basis.Prominent among others present in the video conferencing included Special Secretary Cooperation Gaggandeep Singh Brar, Registrar Cooperative Societies Arvinder Singh Bains and Managing Director Punjab State Cooperative Bank Dr. S.K. Batish.
