Prominent Citizens, Trade groups join hands for City Re-Development

Meeting held with DDC, several issues discussed

Prominent Citizens, Trade associations, representatives of political parties and various stakeholders in Rajouri called on the District Development Commissioner to discuss various developmental issues and projected demands.The delegation of prominent citizens and trade associations in their discussion extended voluntary support and assistance to district administration in the ongoing City Re-development plan under which various roads are being widened, parking slots and parks being established and structures being removed for public utilities.The citizens raised a number of issues including rehabilitation of persons displaced due to re-development of an area, public involvement, relocation of street vendors, construction of drains in city, fire safety provisions, upgradation of old bus stand, regulation of parking, opening of drains, and other important issues including removal of structures for development of roads.The DDC Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary received a number of suggestions from the citizens and deeply appreciated the voluntary association of citizens and trade organisations for the re-development plan. He informed that construction of drain and upgradation of old bus stand has already been taken up while work is being started on another bus stand and market for rehabilitation of shopkeepers displaced as well as street vendors.

The DDC elaborated that parking slots are being developed at Jaawahar Nagar, Salani, Kheora, Darhali, Bhella, Abdullah bridge and other locations during current year while work is under progress on a number of new projects to give a new lease of life to Rajouri town.  He also dwelled that widening and beautification of Gujjar Mandi, development of Park at Bhella and blacktopping / upgradation of old bus stand shall be followed by similar other projects.The citizens and various trade groups called for efforts by municipal committee for effective improvement in drainage system, strict management of extension vends, proper scrutiny of records for building permissions and also improvement in various civic amenities. They were assured that both the bus stands will be made operational and new locations will be added in view of increased traffic.Dinesh Sharma, Subhash Sharma, Sushil Kumar Sharma, Shafqat Mir, Khursheed Janam, Mohd Aslam, Yogesh Sharma, Satpal Sharma, Rajinder Singh, Abdul Rashid Lone, Lovely Gupta, Yograj Sharma, Yousuf Bhat, Yousuf Wani, Majeed Bhat, Tahir Lone, Vijay Kumar, Prabodh Jasyal, Rajesh Gupta and other representatives attended the meeting. Addl DC Abdul Qayoom Mir, CPO A H Choudhary and Tehsildar S D Chouhan were also present in the meeting.
