MVD Kargil organizes awareness programme

Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) Kargil today organized one-day awareness programme for drivers and the general public at Tourist Facilitation Center Kargil to impart awareness  about traffic rules, norms and road safety measures.Deputy Commissioner Kargil Haji Gulzar Hussain was the chief guest on the occasion, while as Senior Superintendent of Police Kargil Tsering Gyalpo was the guest of honour. During the  programme speakers apprised the drivers about the importance of following the traffic rules and regulations, besides to avoid overspeeding and rash driving. They were also enlightened about the role of drivers in giving a boost to tourism in the district by adopting utmost civility in conducting and interacting with visitors. The drivers were also educated about road safety rules and observance of driving etiquettes.The Deputy Commissioner in his speech while appreciating the efforts of Motor Vehicle Department in conducting the awareness camp urged upon the drivers to follow traffic rules and regulations and not to indulge in rash driving and overloading.Meanwhile, the Transport Unions projected a number of demands. The DC assured that all their genuine issues would be redressed on priority. Superintendent of Police Kargil Tsering Gyalpo, Additional Deputy Commissioner Kargil Imteeaz Kacho and Assistant Regional Transport Officer Kargil Haji Muhammad Baqir also spoke on the occasion. The speakers, who spoke on the occasion, included Dy SP Traffic Kargil Manzoor Ahmad Khan, Dy SP DAR Kargil Rigzin Sandup, Senior Prosecuting Officer Nawang Nurboo, Public Prosecutor Kacho Manzoor Ahmad Khan, AD tourism Aga Syed Taha, Medical Officer Dr Liyaqat Ali, SHO Kargil Ghulam Ali and Inspector Traffic Muhammad Nissar.The officers and officials of concerned departments, representatives of Transport Unions, staff members, members of civil society besides a large number of drivers and conductors attended the camp.
