Chaudhary Lal Singh inaugurates ‘Shaheed Bhagat Singh City Forest Park’

Minster for Forests, Environment and Ecology Ch Lal Singh today inaugurated Shaheed Bhagat Singh City Forest Park’ at Kathua which has been established with a cost of Rs 35 lakh.MLA Rajeev Jasrotia was also present on the occasion. Addressing the gathering after dedicating Park to the public, the Minister said that the state government is taking appropriate measures for upgrading the civic facilities in towns. He said that besides government's  focus on development of roads, construction of bridges, cleanliness, improvement of drainage system and management of traffic, equal attention is being paid for beautification of cities.Lal Singh said that beautification and conservation of heritage sites in Kathua is also being accorded focused attention and various measures are being implemented to achieve this goal.The Minister said that several medicinal and ornamental saplings have been planted in the park. He added that people should also play their part in maintaining parks by keeping cleanliness and hygiene in and around such places.“Conservation of water bodies, establishment of Zoo at Jammu and augmenting  infra are few initiatives which the Forest Department is pursuing actively”, Lal Singh added.Speaking on the occasion, MLA Kathua, Rajeev Jasrotia apreciated  the Forest Minister for extensive plantation in and outside the forest areas. He said that plantation along the NH and along the city roads will go a long way in curbing pollution and carbon emission.Earlier, the Minister alongwith the MLA paid floral tributes to the freedom fighter Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru in the park to commemorate their Martyrs` Day.PCCF Ravi Kesar, DC Rohit Khajuria, Chief Wildlife Warden Manoj Pant, CCF Farooq Gillani, Director Social Forestry Ashwini Gupta, Director FPF Mohammad Asif, Director SFRI B M Sharma, DFOs and other District Officers besides former MLA Basholi, Kanta Andotra were present during the function.
