Yaripora village of Kulgam observes shutdown to press for demand of Degree College

Yaripora area in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district observes a complete shutdown for the fourth consecutive day Friday to press for the demand of establishing Degree College.Tehsil headquarter Yaripora, is the second important town of the Kulgam district and is a central place of more than fifty surrounding villages. The people of Yaripora are demanding for a Government Degree College since long and now they are on path of an agitation, locals said.They have formed an “Awami Behbudi Committee” (ABC) to spearhead the agitation, they added.Local while talking to Press Trust of Kashmir that it is the ABC which has called for an indefinite shutdown.“It is very unfortunate that not a single administrative officer visited us in last four days, not even the concerned MLA, Abdul Majid Larmi,” Abdul Rashid, a local resident told Kashmir Reader.Station House Officer, (SHO) Police Station Yaripora, Irshad Ahmad told Press Trust Of Kashmir that people of Yaripora are demanding for Degree College “absolutely peacefully” and there was not any law and order problem.
