Govt. of Punjab is committed for complete eradication of drugs from the state and participation at every level by each cadre of society if must for the same. The promises made by govt. of Punjab will be kept at all cost. This was stated by Minister Public Works and Social security & child development Smt. Razia Sultana while addressing district level function on Youth Empowerment, organised at Shivalik Public School. During the function DAPOs of district were sworn in against drugs by CM Punjab Captain Amrinder singh, through live telecast of State Level Youth Empowerment Day program being organised at Khatkar Kalan.Addressing the function, PWD Minister said that from now onwards, martyr day of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh, Rajguru & Sukhdev will be observed as Youth Empowerment Day and the formal start of which is given today by starting Drug Abuse Prevention Officer (DAPO) program. Smt. Razia Sultana said that a special Task Force (STF) was formed by Punjab Govt. for eradication of drugs, now taking a big step in this direction, DAPO campaign has been started. Through DAPO, general public could also contribute for war against drugs, and the campaign will not remain limited to Govt. Smt. Sultana said that protection of youth against drugs is necessary, so that they could contribute for development of society. During this Deputy Commissioner Gurpreet Kaur Sapra & SSP Ch. Kuldeep Singh Chahal handed over a DAPO Id card to Smt. Razia Sultana.

Before this, addressing the function, Local MLA S. Balbir Singh Sidhu said that in the present time parents are tensed due to drug menace. He said that it is felt that drug eradication is responsibility of Administration, whereas involvement of every cadre of society at various levels is necessary for complete eradication of drugs. He said that by initiating DAPO Program, govt. has started a new step towards war against drugs. He said that every educational institution should organise seminars against drug abuse. S. Sidhu said that concrete steps are being taken in district SAS Nagar which will be continued in future also.The function was started with a brief description about DAPO Program by Deputy Commissioner Smt. Gurpreet Kaur Sapra. She said that, DAPO program has been started with an objective of public involvement for generating awareness against drugs. Special focus will be on that part of the society which is more prone to drugs. During this District Level Program, Saanjh Kendra had installed a help Desk for registration of DAPOs and new DAPOs also got registered. At the end Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) S. Charandev Singh Maan thanked the gathering.

During this Commissioner Municipal Corporation Sh. Sandeep Hans, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Sh. Sanjeev Garg, SDM Mohali Dr. RP Singh, Assistant Commissioner General Sh.Jasvir Singh, SP Industrial Security Sh. Akhil Chaudhary (IPS), SP (Head) Gursewak Singh Brar, SP City Jagjit Singh Jalla, Chief Agriculture Officer Parwinder singh, District Development & Panchayat Officer Sh. DK Saldi, District Social Security Officer Smt. Amrit Bala, District Child Security Officer Navpreet Kaur,  District Program Officer Amarjit singh, Assistant Director Youth Services Smt. Rupinder Kaur, District Revenue Officer Balvinder Pal Singh, Political Advisor to Legislator Sh. Harkesh Chand Machlikalan, officials of Police Administration, representatives of Social service groups & youth clubs were present. Sub division level functions were also organised at Derrabassi and Kharar. Moreover such functions were also organised in Universities and colleges of the district.
