SKPA Udhampur conducts vertical interaction course on "Smart Policing"

Sher-I Kashmir Police Academy Udhampur conducted three days Vertical Interaction Course on “Smart Policing” for officers of the rank from Dy. SP  to  Sr. Superintendent of Police in which 21 officers of different wings/units of J&K Police participated.The course was inaugurated by Mohammad  Sulaiman Salaria, ADGP Director S K Police Academy Udhampur and ably coordinated by SSP Randheer Singh and was assisted by Inspector Jagpaul  Sharma (I/C Forensics) as  Course Secretary. The main objective of this course was to make the participants well aware about various aspects of  SMART( S-Sensitive & Strict, M-Modern with Mobility, A-Alert & Accountability, R-Reliable & Responsive, T-Trained & Techno-savy) Policing and also  to introspect and workout effective measures to achieve the targets of Smart Policing model.The course module was designed with the view to  sensitize the Sr. Police officers about Smart Policing and to encourage  innovation in policing practices through application of Evidence Based   Practices and to conceptualize framework to rethink as  how to organize and prioritize policing activities in most effective ways, incorporating  community policing ,intelligent-led policing, problem solving approach-data driven, supported by analysis enabled by technologies , with a focus on  measuring performance & adjusting decision making accordingly.

The main focus of deliberations was on comprehensive planning  including setting enforcement priorities, establishing performance benchmarks and  alignment of resources to reflect planning, COMPSTAT designing and implementing initiatives that focus on preventing crime also incorporating  evidence based policing, Place based policing approach (Hotspots) and to develop a strategic response to different situation with collaborative  approach of coordinating and integrating  efforts of all the stake holders.The speakers who interacted with the course participants on different subjects  were  Rayees Mohammad Bhat, SSP, Udhampur, Amit Sharma, , RD, LSLR, Udhampur Reasi, , Randheer Singh,  SSP, SKPAU, Faisal Qureshi, SSP,  Addl. SP, Udhampur, Vinay Kumar  SP (OPS) Jammu, Kamal Sharma, CPO, CLI, SKPA Udhampur,  Kameshwar Puri, , Dy.SP, Hqrs. Udhampur Dr.  Pallavi Sachdeva, Asstt. Prof. Deptt. of Lifelong Learning, JU, Dr. Sunniya Wani,   Dy. SP, Sh. Aadil Mushtaq,  Dy.SP.The Valedictory moments were  graced by Mohd. Sulaiman Salaria ,ADGP Director S K Police Academy Udhampur. He advised the participants to inculcate the proper aptitude and  develop attitude of Smart Policing and to sensitize the manpower to be Tech-Savy and to introduce technologically driven methodology in providing  quick response in redressing the grievances of general public.
