Option of education in Punjabi medium to be provided in the technical institutes

The Punjab Government is going to introduce a new syllabus in the Industrial Training Institutions (ITIs) and Polytechnic Colleges from coming academic session to improve the technical education at par with modern technologies besides providing option of education in Punjabi medium  in these institutions. These views were expressed by the Technical Education and Industrial Training Minister Punjab, Charanjit Singh Channi while inaugurating another state- level job fair at Patti.Speaking on the occasion, Charanjit Singh Channi said that special teacher training programs were being organised to update the teachers of government industrial training institutions and polytechnic colleges. He said that teachers of technical institutions would also be made accountable for the placement of students. He said that this year the English language subject would be introduced in the government technical institutes so that student of these institutes can prove their worth at national and international level. He said that the state government would also introduce skill development centers in the government technical institutes and free training would be provided to the students in these institutions.He said that the job fairs were being organized by the state government to provide employment to the youth of the state as promised during assembly elections. He said that the state government has been committed to enable every youth of the state in earning his livelihood. He said that this year 50 employment fairs were being organized at different places of the state with a target of providing employment to about 50,000 youth. He said that around 27,500 youth have been provided employment in the first phase of these job fairs.

On this occasion, Cabinet Minister Mr. Channi announced a grant of Rs. 1 Crore for Government ITI Patti and Government ITI Sirhali to meet the infrastructural requirements of these institutes.  He also announced commissioning of one unit each for computer hardware and network, plumber, tractor mechanic, welder, car painter and mechanist at Government ITI Patti.Addressing the gathering, MLA from Patti Harmindar Singh Gill and MLA from Tarn Taran Mr. Dharmvir Agnihotri said that the Punjab government has been encouraging youth towards sports to keep them away from drugs besides providing them abundant employment opportunities.On this occasion, Additional Director Technical Education and Industrial Training Punjab Mrs. Daljit Kaur Sidhu said that today's employment fairs attracted students from 80 ITIs of Tarntaran, Amritsar, Ferozepur, Fazilka, Sri Muktsar Sahib, Abohar and Faridkot. 5500 students had registered at Ghar Ghar Rozgar for this employment fair out of these about 3 thousand students appeared for interview at this employment fair. Apart from this, a large number of students were also registered their name on the spot. She said that this employment fair was attended by 19 companies and these companies selected 750 candidates for the job.Deputy Commissioner Tarn Taran Mr. Pardeep Kumar Sabharwal said that the District Administration Tarn Taran has been organizing job fairs continuously under the campaign of providing job in every household. He said that about 2400 youth have been provided employment through these employment fairs. In addition to this, skill development centers have been started in the district under the border area development program where vocational training is being provided to make the youth skilled. He said that employment to about 400 young boys and girls has been provided through these centers.Prominent amongst others, SSP Tarn Taran Mr. Darshan Singh Mann, SDM Patti Surinder Singh, Deputy Director Technical Education and Industrial Training Punjab Mr. Maninderpal Singh Bhatia, Principal ITI Patti Capt. Sanjiv Sharma was also present on this occasion.
